Dying harakeke

Image
I had a fun time in Te Whare Tapa Wha learing how to dye harakeke/flax using flax dyes. We did different shades of purple and blue which we will use to make tukutuku woven panels.

Maori art exhibition and harakeke harvesting

I really enjoyed looking at the different art works in the Maori art exhibition at Okorore Gallery in the Historic Village and harvesting some harakeke/ flax to do some weaving later in our Te Whare Tapa Wha group.

Woven fish

I really enjoyed learning how to weave a paper fish in Te Whare Tapa Wha. It is a great way to practice weaving. Maybe next time I'll be able to try it with harakeke/ flax.

I really enjoyed working on my vocal warm up using the Mat Ramsey Session. Chosing a song to learn to sing well 'Crying'. Alongside going for a refreshing walk up to and around the Gate Pa shops to get fresh air and work on my breathing.
